But because he let go of Goal, the fewlocks never existed and there were never any timeloops to begin with, because the fun machine would have never made fewlocks without Rufus showing it thus the world wouldn't be overrun with them. And why did he need to detonate the world? Because it was over run by fewlocks and everyone is dead. And because of that, Rufus lost his sense of hope and ultimately detonated the world. I think the thing that confuses everyone is why he needed to let go of Goal at the end in the first place, and my take on this, is because the scene where they showed us, that when they fell together, Goal died. Not just to end the timeloop, saving the world, letting go of a better ending, but to accept his reality and give hope to Goal instead. Thus, he got out of the time machine, hung at Rufus's leg, and convinced Future Goal to let go while at the same time convincing the Rufus, who's with the Goal saving him, to let go as well. With that in mind, the Rufus in the backseat, at this point knew that they were in a time loop - thanks to hearing the old rufus's explanation during the mind wipe situation - the only way out was to get Goal to let go. This is where the Rufus in the backseat of the time-machine comes in, since the same Rufus can remember every time loop that they've been through, it was shown that the Rufus in the back-seat has gone through every scenario with every single adventure played throughout Doomsday Deponia. The old man rufus then explains to everyone, including the one in the back seat of the time machine, that they're in an infinite time loop and unless something is changed the world is going to explode again. Literally from game 1-3, Doomsday Deponia is telling us that we were playing the loophole, and we've been living the whole loop until FINALLY he gets the shot with the thinga ma bob that makes him old by the Utopians (elephants) and henceforth remembers every single time-loop they've gone through up until that point.
so basically from what I understand was from the start this entire thing has been a loophole.
